Brookdale Park Rose Garden in Montclair, New Jersey is an essential stop for those who appreciate roses. First opened as an Essex County park in 1959, today this park houses more than 500 rose bushes representing 150 varieties – providing visitors with a serene and picturesque experience during any season but especially during June when its blooms reach their full glory!
Essex County Master Gardeners volunteers work collaboratively to keep this public space healthy and beautiful, hosting events and workshops throughout the year for community members. It forms an integral part of Brookdale Park with trails for walking or running, expansive lawns and lush groves of trees nearby.
Roses are not the only flowers found at this park; you will also find foxglove, lavender, hydrangeas and irises among many others – there are even rhododendrons!

Covering 43 acres in Montclair and 78 in Bloomfield, the park provides recreational facilities including playgrounds, baseball/softball fields, stadium with track and grandstand seating as well as tennis courts.
Watchung Avenue station of New Jersey Transit provides easy access to this park, located approximately one mile away. Watchung Avenue Metro station serves Montclair-Boonton Line as its service provider.
Near the park there is also a bus stop operated by New Jersey Transit that runs on a regular schedule, free for public use. Bicyclists can access a paved bicycle path which connects directly with other nearby locations and for drivers there is ample parking space.
