Crane Park, situated near Montclair Center’s business and entertainment district, is an inviting 12 acre greenspace ideal for walks, picnics and other outdoor activities. Boasting baseball fields, bocce ball courts, tennis courts and horse shoe pits – Crane Park provides enough space for multiple activities to occur at once!
Point of Action, an art installation recently installed at Crane Park and now on display to the public, continues to draw admiring glances even months after its debut. Designed as an outdoor artwork piece that highlights the benefits of gardening for improving public space while informing its community of its importance.
Northeast Earth Coalition and Friends of Crane Park collaborated with volunteers to establish the demonstration garden to foster sustainable development, environmental education and community engagement. It is located near the entrance of Crane Park and open free of charge for public access.
Cranes frequent this wetlands area year-round and as such it is considered an official special natural monument.

At the edge of this park lies the River Crane, a tributary of the Thames running through Twickenham. This river has long been used as a waterway and also serves as an important wildlife habitat.
Crane Park Island, managed by London Wildlife Trust, is an attractive nature reserve that once served as Hounslow Gunpowder Mills and now forms part of Crane Corridor Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. Here you’ll find wetlands, woodland and ponds which provide home for rare species like woodpeckers.
Shot Tower was once used for gunpowder production but has since been turned into a visitor centre that opens its doors every Sunday afternoon to welcome families with young children.

There are also hiking trails within the park that provide stunning views of the countryside, making this an excellent stop between winery tours or just for leisure and relaxation.
The park also hosts an annual festival, held the first weekend in July and featuring music, food and other attractions. At this event, traffic is closed off to allow attendees to bring picnic baskets and take in the sights.
Crane Museum can be found adjacent to Crane Park and features an impressive building and landscape which mimics their habitat, providing the chance for guests to view cranes up close while learning all there is about these fascinating birds.
