In the heart of downtown Montclair lies this beautiful coffee bar location. It’s a family friendly hot spot and it’s very common to see local business owners or kids after school enjoying a little love here. Guests often say that the service here is excellent. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu here is very diverse. It features tasty muffins, almond croissants and doughnuts. Some of the most popular drinks are matcha latte, matcha tea and cappuccino.
Java Love embodies the spirit of community, with a strong focus on social responsibility and environmental sustainability. The shop uses organic, fair trade, and rain forest alliance certified coffee beans, as well as reusable and compostable service items. They’re also committed to supporting local nonprofits and community outreach programs.
A PERSONAL MISSION AND PASSION
Ten years ago, clinical psychologist Jodie Dawson and CNN journalist Kristine-Ellis Petrik started their artisan coffee roasting company without any expectation of the huge success it would eventually yield. In 2011, the Montclair, New Jersey residents opened their first Java Love Coffee Roasting Co. in a 400-square-foot storefront on Kauneonga Lake, NY. They named the shop in honor of the 1969 Woodstock music festival, which was held just a stone’s throw from the shop’s upstate location.
The fledgling business quickly gained momentum, and in 2014, they moved the 1,200-pound roaster to a larger space, located in Beekman Mill, in nearby Bethel, NY. As they worked to build their coffee empire, Dawson and Petrik honed their craft and became experts at creating small-batch, small-lot coffee.
They sourced their best coffees from exotic locales around the world, and their unique roasting methods help highlight the unique characteristics of each bean, resulting in a cup of flavorful, high-quality coffee. Their signature drinks, such as the Bad Ass Brew (a four-bean blend with a bold flavor profile) and the Nutella Monuts, have become favorites.
Aside from coffee, the shop serves a delicious menu of baked goods and fresh juices. The bakery menu includes vegan and gluten free options such as raw breakfast bars, granola bars, and overnight oats.
