Located in the heart of Montclair, Church Street is a walkable neighborhood where it’s common to see local business owners and kids after school enjoying a cup of coffee. Now, with a breakfast and brunch menu with gluten free and vegan option, Java Love has become a hot spot in the area!
The brains behind Java Love are Jodie Dawson, a clinical psychologist and life coach, and Kristine-Ellis Petrik, a former journalist. Their business, founded in 2011 in the Catskills, grew into four locations in New York State and two in New Jersey.
For the past decade, the partners have cultivated the regional coffee roasting company they created out of their personal mission and passion for community connection and quality coffee done right. They are now selling to more than 50 restaurants, markets and retailers throughout the tri-state area. They have a growing e-commerce store and a robust wholesale program, including six Whole Foods accounts, that keeps them busy.
Their artisanal coffees are roasted in small batches, allowing customers to taste the unique character of each bean. They are also committed to sustainability and sourcing from sustainable, organic and fair trade farms.
They serve fresh-brewed coffees, espresso, tea and iced drinks to their customers. They also offer a selection of fresh-baked pastries and cookies.
One of the best things about Java Love is that it is family-owned and operated. Owners Jodie Dawson and Kristine-Ellis Petrik have a strong work ethic and they make sure all their employees are happy and satisfied.
The two have a strong relationship with their local community and are involved in many events and projects around town. They also donate a portion of their sales to several nonprofits, such as the Montclair Youth Center and the local high school.
As far as the interior goes, the shop has a very trendy feel to it. There is a lot of chalkboard art, mason jars for iced coffees and the walls are a soft maroon.
On the counter there are shelves of coffees and mugs, and they have an array of beans on display. Some of their signature blends, such as their White Lake and Kauneonga Lake are very popular, but they also have many others that people can choose from.
The staff is friendly and helpful. They are always ready to answer questions about their products and their services.
They have a quiet environment and their music is very low volume. This makes it a great place to work or read a book.
After a long day of work, Java Love is the perfect place to relax and unwind. There are plenty of chairs and tables, but they also have outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front.
The coffee bar is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike. It is a great place to catch up on the latest news and enjoy a good cup of coffee or espresso. The cafe is open seven days a week from 9 am to 11 pm.
