Established as a memorial to Frank H. Presby, an influential citizen and iris hybridizer from Montclair, these Gardens have become part of its rich legacy. Bound by an idyllic dry creek bed dotted with attractive bridges, there are specimen trees and grasses planted all around.
Howard Van Vleck gave the historic and beautiful Van Vleck House and Gardens to the public with the intent that future generations may enjoy them as much as he did in 1993, hoping it would remain preserved and enjoyed. Since then it has become a center for nonprofit organizations based out of NJ (such as several foundations being housed here) supported by fundraisers and donations.
